The Hyundai Nexo is a hydrogen fuel cell powered crossover SUV that was revealed at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show on January 8, 2018. Replacing the Hyundai Tucson FCEV, the Hyundai Nexo is the flagship for Hyundai’s “eco car” portfolio. The car is named after the Danish city Nexø. The vehicle’s is truly one of a kind hydrogen fuel cell SUV that combines cutting-edge technology and futuristic design with fantastic driving range.

The vehicle’s fuel cell system combines oxygen and hydrogen to create a flow of electrons that powers the electric drive motor and charges the 1.56kWh high voltage battery. Along with its five-minute fill-up time and impressive range of 414 miles (WLTP), it offers a viable alternative to the combustion engine for everyday commuting and long drives alike.

Powered by a second-generation emission-free hydrogen fuel cell system, you can breathe easy with NEXO. Inspired by nature, streamlined design reduces the car’s drag co-efficient, and bio materials are used extensively throughout featuring high levels of driver assistance and convenience features, the car sets a new standard.

NEXO’s effortless combination of technology and environmentally friendly design continues inside its spacious, well-appointed interior. Bio fibres, plastics and paint are incorporated alongside two crystal clear LCD displays, for navigation, entertainment and driving information.

Steering wheel

The steering wheel features ergonomically positioned controls to operate the car systems while driving safely. Dedicated paddle shifters allow you to control the level of regenerative breaking.


The brilliant 7” LCD full digital information cluster presents important driving information. Next to range and trip information, it lets you see how your driving style influences fuel consumption.

Reimagined centre console storage

 The NEXO’s electric motor, the traditional shifter is replaced by drive-by-wire buttons. The space saved has been utilised for a practical stowage area and mobile device charging

Recuperative braking

By using the electric motor to slow the vehicle, the NEXO recuperates energy to charge its battery and maintain a healthy state of charge.

Extreme cold weather tested and proven

The NEXO was developed to cold-start at temperatures as low as -30°C. At our Proving Ground in Sweden, we tested our latest electrified vehicles in the most extreme sub-zero conditions. The rigorous testing ensures winter-proved operation for tough everyday use.
